Ensuring accessible, top-notch healthcare for students across universities, colleges, and polytechnics.
The Tertiary Institutions Social Health Insurance Programme (TISHIP), led by the National health Insurance Authority (NHIA), is a groundbreaking health initiative for higher education students. Funded by student contributions, TISHIP ensures access to quality healthcare, promoting well-being and creating a conductive learning environment across universities, colleges of education, polytechnics, and specialised institutions.
The Benefits Packages are tailored to meet the essential needs of students. They cover outpatient care, including consumables and prescribed drugs listed in the NHIS Drug List, as well as hospital care for up to a maximum of 15 days annually. Diagnostic tests are included based on the diagnostic list, and students have access to consultations with a range of specialists such as physicians, surgeons, and ophthalmologists.
Additionally, the package includes provisions for eye and dental care services, emergency care for accident cases, and health education addressing issues like drug addiction, smoking cessation, sexually transmitted diseases, and counseling and testing for HIV/AIDS.
